Description

✅ Adjustable buoyancy for supervised water practice

✅ 8 removable inserts — take them out one step at a time

✅ Arms free to move — nothing strapped around them

Not a lifejacket. Does not protect against drowning. Close, active adult supervision required.

How to use

  1. Measure before you order. Go by height, not age — the size guide above shows how.
  2. Try it on dry at home. Open the front zip fully, step your child in, then close the zip. The suit should sit flat against the body without gaping at the neck or legs, and your child should be able to lift both arms above their head freely.
  3. Check all 8 inserts before every session. Each buoyancy insert sits in its own pocket in the suit. Before your child gets in, feel along every pocket and confirm each insert is fully seated inside.
  4. Get in the water with them. Stay within arm’s reach for the whole session, keep both hands free, and give hands-on support whenever your child needs it.
  5. Reduce the support gradually, never suddenly. Taking an insert out lowers how much the suit holds your child up. Make that change only when they are consistently comfortable and active at the level they are on, only while you are in the water beside them, and be ready to put it back if it was too much too soon.

Not a lifejacket. Does not protect against drowning. Never leave your child unsupervised in or near water, with or without the suit.

The gap nobody names

Happy in the water.
Not yet swimming.
Those are two different things.

Your child loves the pool. They splash, they reach for a toy, they would stay in with you all afternoon. So it feels like swimming should be close.

Then the armbands come off, or you let go — and you find out how far away it still is.

That gap is normal, and almost nothing is built for it. Most aids give one fixed amount of help, right up until the day you take them away completely.

This suit is built for the in-between. Not to close the gap for them — to let you cross it in steps you choose, with you in the water beside them.

Support, built in

One suit.
Eight inserts.
Support that changes.

The buoyancy comes from 8 removable inserts, each held in its own pocket around the suit. The inserts provide the support; the swimsuit keeps everything together in one piece.

Think of it as a dimmer, not a switch. Most aids are on or off — full help, then none. Eight inserts means eight steps in between, and you decide when to take each one.

Built-in pockets
Keep the buoyancy inserts inside the swimsuit.
8 removable inserts
Take them out one step at a time to reduce the support as your child progresses.
The same swimsuit
The inserts can come out; the one-piece suit stays.

Reduce the support one step at a time, only while you are in the water beside your child. Removing inserts reduces buoyancy; it does not mean a child can swim unaided.

Straight answers

Which kind of float aid is which?

Every page in this category tells you the same thing: ours is the best one. Here is the plain version, so you can decide for yourself.

Comparison of armbands, puddle jumpers, fixed-buoyancy swim vests and the Little Splash Floatsuit with removable inserts.
Armbands and water wings
The support sits on the arms. Cheap and familiar. Arms are less free to move while they are on.
Puddle jumpers
Arms and chest supported in one piece. The amount of help is fixed and stays the same every session.
Fixed-buoyancy vests and jackets
Support around the torso, arms free. The amount of help never changes until you stop using it altogether.
This floatsuit
Support around the torso, arms free, built into the swimsuit itself. Nothing grips the arms or straps over the shoulders. 8 inserts, so the help can come down in steps instead of all at once.

Swimming teachers genuinely disagree about which type suits which child, and we are not going to tell you another type is unsafe — ask the person who teaches yours. Whichever you choose, it is for supervised practice with an adult within arm’s reach. None of them is a lifejacket and none protects against drowning.

A little measuring helps.

Find their fit.

Start with their height. Age is an approximate guide.

Too big for baby floats, too small for a puddle jumper? Parents tell us that in-between stage is where nothing seems to fit. Five sizes, starting at 70 cm — around 0–12 months — and running to 120 cm.

How to measure their height

With shoes off, have your child stand straight against a wall. Measure from the floor to the top of their head, then compare with the child-height row above.

Good to know

The questions parents ask most.

Is this a lifejacket?

No. It is a swimming aid for practice in the water with an adult beside your child. It is not a lifejacket, it does not protect against drowning, and it must never be used for boating or in open water where a lifejacket is required.

Will it make my child dependent on it?

It is the question we get asked most, and it is a fair one. The honest answer is that no buoyancy aid teaches a child to swim, and no brand can promise you the opposite either. What this suit does is let you reduce the help gradually instead of jumping from full support to none: 8 inserts, taken out one at a time as your child gets stronger. Swimming unaided is a separate skill — keep checking it without the suit, with your teacher.

Can I stop watching my child while they wear it?

No, and this is the one thing we will not soften. Stay within arm’s reach for the whole session, every session. The suit changes how much support your child has in the water. It does not make them safe and it does not replace you.

Which size should I choose?

Go by height, not age — the size guide above shows how to measure. If your child falls between two sizes, email us before ordering rather than sizing up: a suit that does not sit close to the body will not work the way it is meant to.

I’m buying this as a gift and can’t measure them.

Ask the parent for the child’s height if you can — it is the one number that matters and most parents know it. If you can’t ask without spoiling the surprise, order the size that matches their age in the guide and leave the tags on. The suit needs to sit close to the body to work as intended, so a roomy one is worth sending back rather than using. You have 60 days from delivery to return an unworn suit.

What if my child refuses to wear it?

It happens, and it is usually about how something feels rather than how it looks. Try it on dry at home a few days before you go swimming and let them wear it around the house for a while. That also lets you check the fit while the suit is still returnable. If they will not wear it at all, email us within 60 days — as long as it has not been worn in water, it can come back.

When should I remove an insert?

The suit holds 8 inserts. Take one out when your child is consistently comfortable at the level they are on — not on a schedule, and not because of their age. Make the change only while you are in the water beside them, and put it back if it turns out to be too soon. Their swimming teacher is the best person to judge the timing.

Will it teach my child to swim?

It provides buoyancy for practice. It does not teach swimming by itself, guarantee progress or replace swimming instruction. Assess unaided skills separately.

How do I care for the suit?

Rinse the suit in cool fresh water after every swim to get chlorine or salt out. Take the inserts out, then dry the suit and the inserts separately, flat and out of direct sunlight. Do not tumble dry, iron or bleach. Make sure both are completely dry before storing.
